Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650 garner unprecedented international response
It is no secret that the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 and Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 are the two most important models in the brand's history. Their global reveal at the EICMA 2017 was perhaps the most important unveil for Indian enthusiasts as these are the first twin-cylinder engined motorcycles from the brand. The reveal was also anticipated highly by media and enthusiasts across the world too, considering that the Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650 will compete with international heavyweights like the Triumph Bonneville Street Twin and Harley-Davidson Street Rod.
According to a report on moneycontrol.com, the bikes have been received very well by Royal Enfield's distributors internationally as well. At the global unveil, Siddhartha Lal, MD and CEO, Eicher Motors, who own the iconic two-wheeler brand, said that the two new motorcycles will become the mainstay for Royal Enfield internationally and will be present at all its stores across markets. It is worth noting that Royal Enfield already has as many as 50 exclusive stores internationally, apart from 50 operational multi-brand outlets in the USA. Royal Enfield also has 40 to 60 multi-brand outlets in some of the largest motorcycle markets in Europe, such as the UK, Germany, France, Italy and Spain.
Royal Enfield has entered several high volumes international markets recently, like Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam and Philippines in the ASEAN region, apart from Brazil and Columbia in Latin America and the Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650 will be launched in all 40 countries that the brand is present in, including these. Royal Enfield is clear about the fact that the two new motorcycles hold immense potential for the brand in developed markets and Lal is confident of both becoming the brand's best sellers in the near future. Royal Enfield has over 750 outlets in India alone, and goes without saying both motorcycles will be on offer through dealerships across the country and not just a select few.
Lal also mentioned that the larger displacement of the two new motorcycles should act as a catalyst in helping the brand expand its reach in international markets further where higher displacement motorcycles are a lot more popular than the 350cc, 410cc and 500cc single cylinder motorcycles has in its portfolio currently.
