Moto GP
Although there were dark clouds looming, much to everyone’s delight the track remained dry, and we got to witness one of the most exciting race finishes of the season. Factory Yamaha’s Jorge Lorenzo started from pole with a clean take off, and was able to hold off Repsol Honda’s Dani Pedrosa for much of the race. 10 laps were left when Pedrosa’s overtaking move put him in into the lead. But Lorenzo was able to keep up with the leader, when in the last lap, his dicing move pushed him in the lead again. He somehow defended his position for 2 turns, but going wide in the last turn turned the tide towards Pedrosa for a well deserved victory, and the championship leader finished a close second.
Satellite Yamaha’s Cal Crutchlow had his best race of the season, finishing on podium for the first time on a MotoGP bike, a nice way to celebrate his contract extension with the team. His team mate Andrea Dovisioso finished 4th, overtaking Rossi on a factory Ducati.
Power Electronic Aspar’s Randy de Puniet was the top CRT finisher.
Lorenzo still leads the championship with 245 points, with his lead cut down to just 13 points by Pedrosa. Casey Stoner is in third with 186 points.
MOTO 2
Another exciting race and last lap moves saw Team Catalunya Caixa Repsol’s Marc Marquez take the chequered flag in the lead, with Interwetten-Paddock’s Thomas Luthi and Pons 40HP Tuenti’s Pol Esparago finishing on the podium respectively.
Marc Marquez leads the championship with 213 points, Esparago in second with 165 points and Luthi in third with 154 points.
MOTO 3
It was declared a wet race, however riders opted for slick tyres due to the fast drying racing line. Madfre Aspar Team Moto3’s Jonas Folger finished in the lead, with RW racing GP’s Luis Salom and Red Bull KTM Ajo’s Sandro Cortese taking the rostrum. Mahindra Racing’s local replacement Miroslav Popov was fighting for the podium mid race, but fell off coming onto the straight in the later part of the race.
Sandro Cortese still leads the championship with 200 points, Maveric Vinales in 2nd with 168 points and Luis Salom in 3rd with 149 points.
