India is infamous for its shabby roads, and that can really get to you after a point. OVERDRIVE however, has been fortunate enough to experience some of the best roads in India and abroad. We want to share the joy with a weekly feature of a fantastic road that you should aspire to experience someday. Usually we focus on the best driving routes in India, but recently Shumi went abroad to drive the 2017 Audi R8 V10 Spyder on a road so good that we simply had to make an exception.

The coast of Spain. Sounds terrific already, yes? Just an hour North of Barcelona lies Costa Brava and the roads there are mountain roads that run along the coast. Yes. It is heaven. The coastal run is on a tight and twisting road with lots of places to pull over for a scenic view and only a few towns and villages to interrupt the flow. Almost every turn you can make to the left as you head further up the coast on the GI-682 from Llorret de Mar, our base, is a tight and twisting route that ends in a motor way that you can use to get back to the hotel! It's a loop, pick your size!

The roads towards Sant Feliu de Guixois passing Tossa de Mar are largely well marked and surfaced two-lanes with Armco and little run off. The locals will cross the centre line and we are told the tourists who flock to the Costa Brava region also drink and drive with some regularity. So don't throw caution to the wind. But the road is just epic and the mountains will bounce the glorious engine note back to you which just makes the whole thing a lot more special.
