Product review: Triumph Acton 2 touring jacket
The Acton 2 jacket from Triumph is an entry level touring jacket that's made of waterproof, wind proof and breathable 600D fabric, which for a touring jacket, is par for the course. The jacket comes with CE certified Knox shoulder, elbow and back protectors. It also comes with a thermal lining that can add more warmth for really low temperatures. I'm a fairly large guy and the fit was still comfortable for me with lots of adjustment. There's a waist strap that ensured that the jacket fit snug and further adjustment around the arms to ensure that the armour stayed in place and the jacket was not flapping around in the wind. The generous fit is also great for adding layers as the temperature drops, so don't worry if it's not the snuggest of fits at first.
There are two large external front pockets which are zippered and also water resistant. There's also an internal pocket where I could keep a cellphone protected from the elements. There are also two weather sealed vents that zip open at the front and the back of the jacket to allow air to flow between the liner and the outer layer in warm weather. This really worked on a long ride to Chennai and I was fairly comfortable through some warm weather on the ride. But this only works when on the move and once you stop it does get quite hot inside. I wouldn't recommend it if you are riding short distances in the plains. Where this jacket will shine though is in the hills and mountains of the Himalayas where the weather is unpredictable and you could experience rain, snow and intense sunshine on the same day. At Rs 9,624, this jacket is an excellent value-for-money touring jacket that has all your basic touring needs like weather proofing and protection taken care of.
