180 units of Toyota Vellfire MPV already sold in India

Japanese automobile major Toyota has launched the Vellfire MPV in India at Rs 79.5 lakh that is available in only one variant, the Executive Lounge. It is at the launch event that Toyota confirmed to have already sold 180 units of the premium MPV in India, servicing the first three shipments with 60 units each. The next batch will be sold from April 2020 onward. Interestingly, Toyota has received a large number of bookings for the Vellfire MPV in Hyderabad followed by Delhi and Mumbai. Presently, the MPV is brought to India through the CBU route and is being sold through all the dealerships across India.

The Toyota Vellfire, with its pricing, only competes with the standard Mercedes-Benz V-Class in India. With a generous chrome treatment in the front and the side profiles especially the wheels, the Vellfire does have an imposing street presence unlike any other MPV on sale in India. Dimensions of the Vellfire sits at 4935 mm in length, 1850 mm wide and 1895 mm in height with a wheelbase of 3000 mm, making it a huge vehicle overall. To manoeuvre a vehicle of this size, Toyota has provided a 2.5-litre petrol engine which produces 197PS and 235Nm, with CVT transmission. Unlike other MPVs, the Toyota Vellfire comes with all-wheel drive technology with 105kW front and  50kW rear electric motors using Nickel-metal Hydride hybrid battery. Inside the cabin is a choice of two interior options- beige and black, with leather seats on offer. The dashboard of the Vellfire is covered with leather, with a 10-inch touchscreen for infotainment and navigation controls. The infotainment system also comes with Apple Car Play and Android Auto as connectivity options. Further, even the second row seated passengers get individual screens for entertainment. These seats too, similar to the front row, can be electrically adjustable. The MPV also sports a 17-speaker JBL sound system, with a separate remote control. The Vellfire  is equipped with 7 SRS Airbags & VDIM (Vehicle Dynamics Integrated Management) along with Emergency Brake Signal, Hill start assist control (HAC) and Vehicle Stability Control (VSC).
