2013 Detroit Auto Show: Volkswagen CrossBlue Concept
Volkswagen's six seater SUV concept, the CrossBlue has debuted in the 2013 Detroit Auto Show. Designed specifically for the North American and Canadian market, the CrossBlue concept is powered by a plug-in hybrid diesel powertrain coupled to a DSG transmission putting power down to the road through an electric all-wheel drive system. The 4-cylinder 2.0-litre turbodiesel along with the twin electric motors makes 305PS of power and 700Nm of torque. 0-100kmph will be dispatched in seven seconds and Volkswagen says that the CrossBlue will deliver fuel efficiency of approximately 50kmpl. In just electric mode, the crossover will cover a distance of 23km at a top speed of 121kmph.
If and when this MQB Modular Transverse Matrix components built CrossBlue makes it into production, it will be slotted above the Tiguan and below the Touareg.
