2014 Mahindra Xylo refresh launched in India at Rs 7.24 lakh
Mahindra has launched the updated Xylo in India at a starting price of Rs 7.24 lakh, ex-Mumbai. The company has made some cosmetic as well as mechanical changes to the MUV.
The new Mahindra Xylo's front end has been tweaked and there is a chrome strip running near the bonnet. The roof rails are also new while there are some new decals running along the sides as well. The alloys also are new while at the rear, just like in the front, there is a chrome appliqué. The lamps at the rear too have been tweaked. These tweaks aren't limited to the exteriors and extend to the inside as well. The upholstery has been revised and the new theme is beige and black. There is a new instrument cluster and 2-DIN audio system enabled with Bluetooth. Mahindra still has the Xylo's party trick, the voice activated commands, intact. The third row of seats splits 60:40 now.
The mechanical changes that we were talking about has to do with the suspension. Mahindra claims to have enhanced the suspension's damping characteristics to give the Xylo a more comfortable ride quality. The engines though are the same as in the old MUV, 95PS/218Nm 2.5-litre turbodiesel and a 120PS/280Nm BS4 turbodiesel. Both the engines come mated to a five-speed gearbox, however the one in the 120PS engine is the same as will be seen in the upcoming Scorpio facelift. The BS3 engine claims a higher fuel efficiency of 14.95kmpl as compared to the 14.02kmpl of the BS4. The new Xylo comes in five variants with the BS4 engine being common to all the D2, D4, H4, H8 and H9 variants while the BS3 engine is being limited to only the D2 and D4.
