2015 Geneva Motor Show preview

The all-important Geneva Motor Show 2015 is almost and several manufacturers have already revealed their offerings before the show. Many have also teased their cars with the all important showcase happening at the show. Here are some makes that will be showcased and listed as 'only for Europe' vehicles  at the Geneva Motor Show 2015.

Aston Martin

Aston Martin previewed its one of a kind Vulcan sportscar a couple of days before the Geneva Show. Only 24 units of this car are to be built and even these will be for track usage only. The Aston Martin Vulcan is expected to inspire future cars from the manufacturer's stables. Customers can also choose to personalise their cars through the company's Q programme. Word is that the Vantage V12 S Extreme edition will also make an appearance.

Audi

Audi R8 V10

The new Audi R8 will take centre stage. The lighter R8, Audi says, has been built from ground up. Like its predecessor, the new R8 continues with a choice of V10 engines - the one in the R V10 makes 540PS while the R8 V10 Plus produces 70 horses more. Other than this, there will be the RS3, a 365PS petrol engine which is claimed to do a 0-100kmph sprint in 4.3 seconds.

Bentley

Bentley Continental GT V8 S

A new GT car is what Bentley will showcase along with the GT convertible, Continental GT Speed and the Continental S.

BMW

BMW 2 Series Gran Tourer

The Bavarian will have on display the updated 1 Series with a few styling differences from the outgoing model as well as refreshed interiors. A seven-seater 2 Series Gran Tourer will also be showcased. At this point, it is hard to tell if the 2 Series is coming to India, but if it does, it will create a niche segment.

Bugatti

Bugatti Veyron

The Bugatti Veyron final edition will be showcased at the motor show. First started in 2005, this legendary Veyron will share space along side the first ever Bugatti.

Ferrari

Ferrari 488 GTB

The latest supercar from the Italian car manufacturer, the 488 GTB will be on display at the Ferrari stands. A 660PS twin-turbo V8 motor powers this car and it is expected to make its debut in India as well.

Ford

Ford GT 4

Ford will showcase its new all-wheel drive 318PS Focus RS along with the GT. There will also be performance variants of the Kuga, EcoSport, Edge and S-Max SUVs.

Honda

Honda Civic Type-R

Fancy a turbopetrol hatchback with over 300PS on offer? Head straight to Honda's stall as they will have the Civic Type-R on display. There will also be the European-spec Jazz on display. Also sharing the stands is the Civic hatchback, an all new version which sadly won't come down to our shores.

Hyundai

Hyundai-Tucson

The 2016 Tucson will be the star at the Hyundai stands. It will be accompanied by the i40 sedan, i20 coupe as well as the new i30 hatchback.

 Jaguar

 All-wheel drive system. 3.0-litre V6 petrol engine. 340PS. All of this packed into one of Jaguar's most sensuous shapes. The beautiful new XJ by Jaguar gets AWD capability to better employ it's 300 plus horses. In addition, Jaguar will also showcase the XJ with a 3.0-litre diesel heart, called the R-Sport SWB (Short Wheel Base). The V6 diesel belts out 300PS that's channeled only to the rear wheel via an eight-speed semi-automatic transmission. Jaguar will also showcase the F-Type R Convertible with AWD and the F-Type S Coupe Manual. The F-Type R sports a 5000cc petrol V8 with a power output of 550PS while the F-Type S will come with a 3.0-litre, 380PS engine that drives the front wheel. The entire range of the XE will also be on display, from the  XE 25t portfolio to the top model XE S with a 340PS petrol engine.

Koenigsegg

Swedish hypercar manufacturer, Koenigsegg will display its uber exclusive hypercars, the Agera RS and the Regera. The RS is based on the learnings from Koenigsegg's One:1 programme. The Regera (Swedish for 'to reign') comes with a 5000cc engine that produces a whopping 1500PS.

Lamborghini

The 2014 Lamborghini Aventador

The Italian manufacturer from Sant'agata Bolognese will reveal the Super Veloce or SV iteration of its mad supercar, the Aventador. A lighter and faster Aventador, this monster may very well be the successor to the Lamborghini Murcielago LP670-4 SV.

Land Rover

 Land Rover will pay homage to it's legendary model, the Defender, by unveiling the special editions namely, Autobiography, Heritage and Adventure. The models are designed to resemble Defenders from the past. In addition, the company will also debut the new Discovery 2.0 D HSE, SDV6 HSE and Sport. The new Range Rover Evoque will also be launched in Geneva and will feature redesigned exteriors and interiors.

Lexus

Lexus will display its latest concept, the City Car at the Motor Show. Called the LF-SA, the concept car is likely to be based on an existing Toyota model.

Mitsubishi

The Japanese manufacturer will showcase a prototype of  a compact SUV that will sport a radical, edgy design and a hybrid powertrain.

Nissan

The new Sway concept hatchback is regarded as the precursor to Nissan's new design language for hatchbacks. The design clearly shows the adoption of some aggressive, angular cues that will filter down to the new car. The Nissan Micra may also sport a new design that will be on the lines of the Sway concept car.

 Porsche

Porsche will showcase its new Cayman GT4. It is the first Gt model to use components from Porsche's 911 GT3. The company says that the new 385PS  Cayman is engineered to offer maximum dynamism, which it does on account of revisions to the engine, chassis and brakes.

Qoros

Chinese carmaker Qoros will present its new urban SUV, badged the 3 City, which is based on the Qoros 3 saloon that was unveiled last year in Geneva. Qoros is regarded as a manufacturer that makes quality products that are at par with international standards. Two 1.6-litre engines will be available in different states of tune, one producing 125PS and the other, 156PS.

 Suzuki

Suzuki is playing the wait and anticipate game by only releasing silhouettes of two of its concepts. The first one is a concept compact that is based on Suzuki's design theme, 'harmonised force' while the other concept is a small four-wheel drive vehicle, which will be packed with new technologies. Watch out for March 3, 2015, when the doors to the Geneva Motor Show open, to know what Suzuki has in store.

Skoda

 Skoda will showcase the highly anticipated Superb flagship at the show. Joining it will be the Octavia RS station wagon with a stonking 2.0-litre petrol engine that produces 230PS. The new Fabia Monte Carlo will also debut with special components on both the exterior and interior.

Ssangyong

Mahindra's South Korean acquisition, Ssangyong will showcase its compact SUV, the Tivoli. The car comes with a 1.6-litre, 126PS petrol engine and a diesel mill which will be made available later. Mahindra may bring the Tivoli to India.

Tata

Indian manufacturer Tata Motors will showcase the Bolt Sport Concept at Geneva this year. The car features a short throw gearbox, and track honed chassis and suspension. The interiors have also been refurbished. In addition, Tata will also display its Connectnext Concept car. The concept electric car gets an interface for connecting to professional and personal networks.

Toyota

Toyota will present the revised version of the Auris which is a hatchback version of the Corolla. The sheetmetal is revised and the interiors are also redesigned and upgraded. The Avensis station wagon also gets a complete revision on both exterior and interior fronts. Toyota has confirmed that the car will also come with the newly developed 1.6-litre D-4D engines.

 Volkswagen

Touran

The latest generation of VW's Touran MPV will be showcased this year. With the option of a five or seven seater configuration, the highlight of the new Touran is that it is now built on Volkswagen's MQB platform. There is a Fold Flat system that liberates a large volume of cargo space with the second row folding in level with the floor. The company will also showcase the Touran R-Line and the Sharan MPV.

Volkswagen will display the Passat Alltrack, which essentially is a Passat in the shape of a station wagon. The car has a taller rider height in comparison to the Passat sedan. The suspension is on the softer side and the Alltrack comes with VW's 4Motion all-wheel drive system. There will also be another estate car, the VW Golf GTD - again a Golf in a station wagon avatar. The car is powered by a 4.0-litre engine that produces 184PS and 380Nm of torque.
