2016 Hyundai Tucson launched in India at Rs 18.99 lakh
Hyundai India has launched the all-new Tucson at Rs 18.99 lakh, ex-Delhi. The car is available in five petrol as well as diesel variants, in manual and automatic guises.
The all-new Hyundai Tucson was showcased at the Auto Expo 2016. It boasts a length of 4,475mm, width of 1,850 and height of 1,660mm. The wheelbase is 2,670mm. The SUV gets LED headlamps with static bending lights, LED DRL fog lamps, 18-inch alloys and puddle lamps.
The interior layout is similar to the new Elantra with an 8-inch touchscreen system that hosts Android Auto as well as Apple CarPlay and also has an Arkamys music system. Other features include the gimmicky tailgate opening, electronic parking brake and ORVMs with heating function.
The talking point is the introduction of an all-new 2.0-litre diesel motor. Called the e-VGT diesel, this one belongs to the R family and makes 185PS/410Nm. It can be ordered either with a 6-speed manual or automatic. Hyundai claims a fuel efficiency of 18.42kmpl and 16.38kmpl respectively.
The petrol is the same unit that we have seen on the new Elantra. The 155PS/200Nm 2.0-litre dual-variable valve timing equipped motor can also be optioned with the aforementioned transmissions. While the manual cars have the option of Flex Steer which modulates the steering feedback based on the Normal or Sport mode selected, the diesels have the Drive Mode Select that alters the engine mapping as well as throttle.
The Hyundai Tucson has been awarded a 5-star Euro NCAP rating with respect to safety, the highest in its class. The safety features available on the Indian model includes six airbags, ESP with VSM, hill assist, downhill brake control, ABS, front as well as rear parking sensors and a reverse parking camera along with sensors.
Hyundai offers the new Tucson SUV in India with a choice of five colours. The SUV will also be offered with an optional Hyundai Premium Assurance Programme which gives 3-year/unlimited kilometres warranty, 3-year roadside assistance and three times customer 'Home Visits'.
