The Ducati SuperSport and SuperSport S are the newest sportsbikes to be launched in the country. The Italian manufacturer says the SuperSport is meant to be a friendlier, easier to ride sportsbike than the average supersport, while also being sporty and fun to ride. It comes powered by the same 937cc, liquid-cooled L-twin engine as the Hypermotard 939 and Multistrada 950, offering 113PS and 93Nm, but with a gentler power delivery. The idea is to make the performance more accessible for lesser experienced riders and introduce them to the exciting world of sport riding. The standard SuperSport is priced at Rs 12.08 lakh ex-showroom India, while the SuperSport S retails at Rs 13.39 lakh, and gets higher-specced Ohlins suspension at both ends and a bi-directional quickshifter as standard.

The Ducati SuperSport S promises an interesting mix of everyday practicality and sportiness with its relaxed ergonomics and easy power delivery

Like most Ducatis, the rear three-quarter is the best angle to look at the Ducati SuperSport S with its single-sided swingarm, rear seat cowl and twin exhausts

The Ducati SuperSport S gets a removable pillion seat cowl as standard fitment

The Ducati SuperSport's instrument cluster looks similar to the Monster 821 and 959 Panigale's and incorporates a lot of information in a neat, legible manner

The windscreen on the Ducati SuperSport and SuperSport S can be adjusted to raise its height which should offer better wind protection

The clip-on handlerbars on the Ducati SuperSport and SuperSport S come with tall risers that make for a riding position that isn't as committed and is more upright than conventional sportsbikes like the 959 Panigale

The Ducati SuperSport S gets a fully-adjustable Ohlins monoshock at the rear as opposed to the Sachs monoshock on the standard version. The S also gets fatter, 48mm, fully-adjustable Ohlins upside down front forks, while the standard version gets 43mm adjustable Marzocchi forks

The Ducati SuperSport and SuperSport S use twin 320mm semi-floating discs upfront, along with 4-piston, radially mounted Monobloc Brembo M4-32 calipers. ABS is standard and you get three levels to choose from

Switchgear on the Ducati SuperSport S is new, particularly the engine start/stop switch. Also note switch below it that can switch headlights off and only keep the LED DRLs running

The Ducati SuperSport S gets a bi-directional quick shifter as standard. Electronics allow you to choose to let it function in either direction only or turn it off completely and shift conventionally using the clutch

The Ohlins suspension, trellis frame and Pirelli Diablo Rosso III tyres make for a lot confidence on the Ducati SuperSport S around corners, and in a way even inexperienced riders will be encouraged to push harder

A gentler and more linear power delivery as compared to conventional supersport motorcycles means the Ducati SuperSport S is easy and confidence inspiring for power wheelies

The Ducati SuperSport S is extremely compact for a near 1000cc sportsbike
