Jeep India today announced the starting of bookings for the Compass Trailhawk AWD SUV in India. Interested customers can book the SUV at a refundable amount of R 50,000 at any of the 82 FCA showrooms located across 70 cities and towns in India. It is the first Jeep vehicle to be sold in India that comes with the Trail Rated badge, a tag that is given to Jeep 4x4 SUVs that have been developed and comes with more off-road centric capabilities as compared to the regular 4x4 Jeep models.  Jeep has already started the teaser campaign around the Trailhawk to create a buzz around the SUV.

"The Trailhawk is a product which is developed for customers looking for a hugely capable and exclusive SUV in the compact category. It  is the first compact SUV to be offered with the 2.0-litre 173 PS, 350 Nm BS VI turbodiesel engine, nearly a year before the new emission norms come into effect and, it is the only compact SUV which comes with a 9-speed automatic transmission." mentioned, Kevin Flynn – President and Managing Director, FCA India.

The Jeep Compass Trailhawk SUV is a more functional offering that is based on the Compass but is more off-road centric. In terms of design, the Trailhawk gets a host of add-ons which includes more functional bumpers for an improved approach, and departure angle, larger air-dam, skid plates and a glare-patch on the bonnet. To make it appear a tad different from the regular, Jeep has blackened out the mirrors, roof and the pillars, all of which make the SUV more appealing than before. Also, dual-tone alloy wheels, all-weather floor mats have been included in the package. Further, Jeep has given red accents to the upholstery and Trailhawk badges at various places, both outside and inside.

And here is where the 2019 Jeep Compass Trailhawk SUV distinguishes itself from the regular offering. The ZF 9-speed automatic transmission that is on offer on the international-spec model has been introduced in the Indian model. While the engine option and the state of tune remains unchanged, the 2.0-litre MultiJet II diesel will be offered with the company's active drive low-range 4WD system as well as a new Rock Mode for its Selec-Drive system. In addition to this, the Compass Trailhawk has 20mm more ground clearance than the standard Compass.

The Jeep Compass is a big success in the Indian market and has single-handedly revived the fortunes of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) in the country. The Compass has impressed all with its combination of looks, build quality, engines, driveability and brand value. The Jeep Compass Trailhawk then, should offer more value to the Jeep customer. We expect the Jeep Compass Trailhawk to be priced around the Rs 30 lakh mark on-road when it launches by June-end or July. We have already driven the 2019 Jeep Compass Trailhawk and here's out initial impressions of the SUV
