2019 Mahindra Bolero spotted with safety upgrades

New spy images have shown that Mahindra has updated its bestselling UV, the Mahindra Bolero, to meet the upcoming safety norms. The car seen here seems to get a driver air-bag and rear parking sensors. This comes as similar upgrades have been made to other Mahindras like the Scorpio and XUV500.

There is very little to distinguish this from the previous cars apart from the new steering wheel. Accommodating the air-bag has now meant that the Bolero gets the TUV300's unit. Other new additions to the car will be a seatbelt reminder and a speed-warning system.

Mechanically the Bolero is expected to remain unchanged.  The 1.5-litre mHawk D70 engine, borrowed from the TUV300 and NuvoSport, makes 70PS and 195Nm. The interiors get the partly digital instrument cluster, Bluetooth-enabled music system that also supports USB and AUX inputs and dual tone interior trims finished in faux wood.

More updates are expected on the Bolero, like a strengthened structure and BSVI engines when the deadlines for meeting those norms come closer. Prices for the Bolero start at Rs 7.34 lakh ex-showroom Mumbai for the base Power Plus SLE variant. The range tops out at Rs 9.22 lakh for the ZLX. Expect a Rs 25,000 to 30,000 increase when these updated cars hit showrooms.
