2020 Hyundai Verna facelift launched in India at a price of Rs 9.31 lakh
The 2020 BSVI Hyundai Verna facelift has been launched in India and the base variant has been priced at Rs 9.31 lakh and the top model is for Rs 15.10 lakh. The car gets three engine options, two petrol and one diesel engine.
The 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine makes 116PS of power and 144Nm of torque whereas the 1.0-litre turbo unit ups this to 121PS and 172Nm. The naturally aspirated engine comes mated with a 6-speed manual as standard and a CVT option is also available, the turbo petrol engine gets a 7-speed DCT gearbox only. The 1.5-litre diesel engine pairs with a 6-speed manual that makes 116PS and 250Nm, a torque converter automatic is also offered with the diesel engine.
The 2020 Verna gets a heavily revised face, dominated by another iteration of the brand's cascading grille. Here, it is wider and finished in a large silver honeycomb pattern. The headlamps are now sleeker too and get the full LED treatment, the bumper is new as well, featuring triangular inserts for the LED foglamps, much like the Elantra. The side profile remains much the same as before but a sharper set of alloy wheels are visible, while the rear section now has chunkier, chrome-trimmed bumpers, new full-LED taillamps with a LED parking light and larger Hyundai badging. The 1.0-litre turbo version swaps out most of the chrome exterior elements for a blacked-out look, dual-tipped exhausts and a slightly sharper rear bumper.
Inside the cabin, you get wireless mobile phone charger, sunroof, ventilated front seats, paddle shifter, 8-inch touchscreen, Arkamys audio system, and a fully digital instrument cluster. The Blue Link connectivity system comes with voice-activated functions, air-con operation and remote engine. The turbo-petrol versions get unique darker theme with bright accents, while the naturally aspirated petrol and diesel version come with a dual-tone look.
You also get hands-free tailgate opening and along with that, the Blue Link system lets you access some functions with your smartwatch as well.
Safety is taken care of by ABS, rear parking sensors, seat belt reminder and two airbags for front passengers. Higher variants get ESC, front parking sensors, reverse camera and a tyre pressure monitoring system. The car takes on Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Skoda Rapid and Volkswagen Vento to name a few.
