2020 Skoda Superb facelift launched in India at Rs 29.99 lakh
The Skoda Superb facelift has been launched in India starting at Rs 29.99 lakh, ex-showroom. This is for the Sportline trim. The Laurin and Klement version costs Rs 32.99 lakh. Skoda India launched this car in a press conference alongside the Skoda Karoq SUV and the Skoda Rapid 1.0 TSI. The base Style variant of the Superb with the manual gearbox has been discontinued and only the Sportline and Laurin and Klement trims are available now.
The BSVI-compliant Skoda Superb facelift is powered by the same 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol that debuted in the Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace. This version makes 190PS between 4,200 and 6,000rpm, max torque is 320Nm from 1,500 to 4,100rpm. It will come paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox.
Both versions get unique paint options with the Sportline carrying an all-black interior trim and a slightly sharper external look. Paint options for the Sportline are Moon White, Race Blue and Steel Grey while the Laurin and Klement will get Lava Blue, Magic Black, Magnetic Brown, Business Grey and Moon White.
As for design changes to the Superb facelift , the butterfly grille now has a thick chrome strip running over it while the headlamps are slimmer and full matrix LED units with new elements. Also new is the front bumper. The air dam is wider and stretches the entire length of the car, also housing the wide LED fog lamps. It gets the wide Skoda lettering seen on the Scala while the tail lamps now have new detailing. Most notable is the thin chrome strip that runs the entire length of the rear, cutting through the lights, which now have sequential turn indicators. The rear bumper too has been redesigned with new grey inserts. The side profile remains identical, just with new split chrome badging on the fenders and doors. The car will sport new alloy wheel designs as well. The interior's biggest addition is the Virtual Cockpit instrument cluster for the Sportline version, VW's newest infotainment system and new chrome and other trim designs around the cabin.
The Skoda Superb competes with the Toyota Camry Hybrid in India.
