Triumph Motorcycles have announced the pricing of the mid-spec Street Triple, the Street Triple R at Rs 8.84 lakh, ex-showroom. This makes is Rs 2.49 lakh more affordable than the full-spec RS trim that is priced at Rs 11.33 lakh, ex-showroom. The company dealerships have officially commenced bookings for the same and the deliveries are expected to begin shortly. Powering the Street Triple R is Triumph's Moto2 derived 765cc triple engine that 118PS of power at 12,000rpm and generates 79Nm of torque at 9,350rpm.

The power figure remains unchanged compared to the previous iteration of the R variant. However, Triumph claims that the engine feels more responsive than before, which has been achieved with a seven per cent reduction in the rotational inertia for more precise throttle response. The engineers have also tweaked the airbox and the exhaust unit for superior performance and more distinct engine note. In comparison, the Street Triple RS makes 121PS of power at 11,750rpm and generates 78.63Nm of torque at 9,350rpm. The Street Triple R, like its powerful sibling, comes with a bi-directional quick-shifter. The street naked features three riding modes for maximum control in all conditions – Road, Rain, and Sport. These adjust throttle response and traction control settings and are easily selectable while riding via the Street Triple R's LCD instruments. Rain mode restricts peak power to 100PS for better feel and a smoother ride. Completing the package specification, the Street Triple R features ride-by-wire, ABS, and traction control.

The range topper Street Triple RS features TFT which is not the case with the newly launched Street Triple R

The suspension is also high specification with Showa 41mm upside down separate function big piston forks and a Showa piggyback reservoir mono-shock RSU. Both are fully adjustable for preload, compression damping, and rebound damping. The 2020 Street Triple R runs on Pirelli's road-focused all-weather Diablo Rosso III tyres.

"The premium middle-weight segment is growing in India and is becoming more competitive. With the introduction of the R we strengthen our position in this category. The R is the perfect proposition for someone who wants an agile, middleweight street naked with racing DNA. It packs all the punch of the RS, offering the best of both worlds given its lineage with the Triumph Moto2 engines". commented, Shoeb Farooq, Business Head - Triumph Motorcycles India.
