The Tata Punch is based on the modular ALFA architecture that first debuted with the Altroz. The SUV styling also gives the Punch some capability in the rough stuff with a 20.3°approach angle, 37.6° departure angle and 22.2° ramp over angle and a 370mm wading depth.

Powering the Tata Punch is the 1.2-litre Revotron naturally aspirated petrol that puts out 86PS and 113 Nm. This motor pairs with a five-speed manual, or in the top-three variants, with a five-speed AMT. The motor has been retuned here for better low-end performance while the AMT now offers a Traction Pro mode for improved performance. The manual returns an ARAI fuel consumption figure of 19 kmpl.
