2021 Volkswagen Taigun: Prices and variants explained

The Volkswagen Taigun midsize SUV has been launched in India with prices starting from Rs 10.50 lakh. The Taigun is the group's second and the Volkswagen brand's first model to come from its India 2.0 strategy and is very closely related to the Skoda Kushaq. Both SUVs share the same MQB-A0-IN architecture and turbo-petrol engines, but there are certain differences in terms of variants and features on offer.

The Volkswagen Taigun is being offered in two variant lines. The first is the Dynamic line powered by the 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbo-petrol good for 115PS at 5,000-5,500 rpm and 178 Nm 1,750-4,500 rpm. This is paired with a six-speed manual that returns a mileage of 18.10 kmpl or a six-speed torque converter good for 16.44 kmpl. Stepping up from this is the Performance line which uses the 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol making 150PS at 5,000 - 6,000 rpm and 250 Nm at 1,600 - 3,500 rpm. The fuel efficiency number for this version is 18.47 kmpl with the six-speed manual and 17.88 kmpl with the seven-speed DCT.

Dimensionally, the Volkswagen Taigun is 4,221mm long, 1,760mm wide and 1,612mm tall. The wheelbase is 2,651mm with a boot capacity of 385 litre expandable to 1,405 litres.
