Suzuki Motorcycle India has announced a recall for 54,740 units of the new Access 125. According to the manufacturer, the Suzuki Access 125 is being recalled to inspect the rear axle shaft and if needed replace it. On some of the affected units a rear axle/wheel stability issue has been identified.
The units being recalled are those manufactured between March 8 and June 22, 2016. Suzuki has stated that from July 13 onwards it will contact owners of the affected Access 125 units. The company says that apart from replacing the rear axle shaft without charging the customer it will also provide free service.
The all new Suzuki Access 125 was showcased at the Auto Expo 2016 and subsequently launched in March this year. Compared to its predecessor, the new Access 125 gets an all-new platform and is 10 kilos lighter with a kerb weight of 102kg. It gets a 5.6-litre fuel tank and the underseat storage capacity is 21 litres.
Although it retains the 125cc, single-cylinder engine from its predecessor, the engine has been reworked with the intention of making it lighter. It also makes a higher 8.7PS and 10.2Nm. It also features the Suzuki Eco Performance (SEP) technology which claims to improve fuel economy.
The top Access 125 trim comes equipped with alloy wheels, disc brakes and a DC socket. The instrument console gets a prominent speedo readout, digital odometer and fuel gauge along with a service due indicator.
