Alto 800 VXi gets an airbag option
Alto has always been one of Maruti Suzuki's largest selling cars. Maruti has now added an option of a driver-side airbag to its Alto 800 VXi. The Alto 800 was launched last year and in June 2013, Maruti introduced the range-topping VXi variant to the line-up.
2013 Maruti Alto 800
Before this, the LXi was the top variant of the Alto 800 and the airbag was an option. The Alto VXi Non-Metallic costs INR 3.35 lakh; the Alto VXi Metallic costs INR 3.39 lakh, the Alto VXi Non-Metallic with Airbag costs INR 3.54 lakh and the Alto VXi Metallic with Airbag costs INR 3.58 lakhs (prices are ex-showroom, Mumbai).
The VXi variant of the Alto 800 comes with power windows on all windows, an integrated music system with a CD player, USB and Aux-in with two speakers, central locking, internally-adjustable left side view mirror, rear parcel tray, rear spoiler, side mouldings and a driver-side airbag.
The Alto 800 gets a 796cc petrol engine that puts out a peak power of 48PS and peak torque of 67Nm. A five speed manual transmission takes power to the front wheels.
