Audi announces price hike across range
Audi India has announced a price hike across its model range post the 2012 Union Budget. Locally made Audi models will have price increase of 3.4 to 3.7 per cent while the fully built units (FBU) have a price hike ranging from 13 to 14 per cent. The budget proposed the increase of the custom duties for FBU models from 60 to 75 per cent and now the Audi A7 Sportback starts from Rs 66.04 lakh and the RS5 from Rs 85.95 lakh as against the earlier Rs 64 and 76 lakh, ex-Delhi.
Locally manufactured cars like the A4 no start at Rs 30.60 lakh as opposed to the pre-hike price of Rs 27.69 lakh (ex-Delhi). Head of Audi India, Michael Perschke said, "To the increase in excise duty and customs duty on large cars in this year's union budget, we have re-evaluated our pricing strategy in India and have increased the prices of all products. However, we are still confident of achieving our sales target of 7500-8000 cars at the end of 2012"
