Bajaj Auto to hike prices from Jan 01, 2017
Like Mercedes-Benz India, Isuzu Motors and Mahindra, motorcycle manufacturer Bajaj Auto will also be increasing prices across its range. The ex-showroom prices of all Bajaj motorcycles will increase by around Rs 700-1,500. Bajaj Auto has stated that the revised prices will come into effect from January 01, 2017.
Like all car manufacturers, Bajaj Auto has attributed the price hike to the rise in input costs. However, it has also stated that the price hike was necessary to offset the cost of upgrading its models to comply with the BS-IV emission norms. By April 2017, all motorcycles sold in the country must comply with BS-IV emission norms.
In an official statement, Eric Vas, president of the motorcycle division at Bajaj Auto, has said that some of its models are already BS-IV compliant and the rest will be by the middle of January 2017. He added that the company wants to be among the first to comply with the new emission norms. He also said that the price hike will not include the recently launched Bajaj Dominar 400.
Around a week ago, the Bajaj Auto launched the Dominar 400 and the non-ABS Dominar is priced at Rs 1.36 lakh, ex-Delhi. The dual-channel ABS Dominar 400 model costs Rs 1.4 lakh. It is powered by an engine related to the 373cc unit on the 390 Duke but gets three spark plugs and four valves with SOHC. It makes 35PS of power and 35Nm of torque.
