Bentley to showcase iconic cars at various automotive events across the UK
Bentley has announced that its iconic, heritage cars will be showcased at various automotive events such as the Goodwood Festival Of Speed and Pebble Beach. The company will field cars that have highlighted the engineering prowess of the company, says Bentley.
The first car is the Blue Train Bentley. It was named after the Calais-Mediterranee or Blue Train Express that it beat on the journey back to Calais in the year 1930. The Gurney Nutting two-door Fastback Coupe was driven by Captain Woolf Barnato who was the then chairman of Bentley Motors. The car will make an appearance at the Goodwood Festival Of Speed from June 25 to June 28, 2015 and the Schloss Bensberg Classics, in Germany from July 17 to July 19, 2015.
The second car is the Team Blower that was used by the Bentley racing team in 1920. It was widely acclaimed for its performance at Le Mans back in 1930. The car will be displayed at this year's 24 hours of Le Mans from June 12 to June 14, 2015.
Bentley will also showcase its oldest car in existence, the EXP2. The car was made in 1920 and came with a 3-litre engine with a top speed of 128kmph. It was Bentley's most successful racer at that time and went on to win the first race in the company's history. The EXP2 will be shown at the Cholmondeley Pageant of Power in Cheshire, England from June 12 to June 14 June, 2015
Another historic car that will be showcased is W O Bentley's very own car, the 8-litre. Although a luxury car at that time , the 8-litre boasted of a top speed of 163kmph, which was incredible for its time. The car will make an appearance at the Bentley Drivers' Club Weekend in Banbury from June 27 to June 28, 2015.
The last car in the lineup would be the Continental R-Type. It was the first Bentley to bear the Continental badge and was the fastest four seater car of its time, says Bentley. Top speed was a heady 193kmph. The Continental R-Type will be showcased alongside the 8-litre at the Bentley Drivers' Club Weekend in Banbury.
