Citroen C1 facelift to be unveiled at Geneva 2014

Citroen will debut its new C1 at Geneva next month. This is the first full redesign of the car since its launch in 2005.

The car will be available in three and five door models and also gets the Airscape design which is essentially a soft top allowing the occupants to get a convertible like experience in a budget car.

This is a compact city car with dimensions of 3460mm, 1620mm, 1450mm in length, breadth and height. The front end gets two part headlamps with round headlights giving it a smiling effect. The vertical daytime running lights give the car a cheerful and strong facial feature. The sides get a black windscreen pillar depending on the variant and chrome weather strips. 15-inch wheel covers are standard with the 15-inch diamond tipped alloys available as options.

The rear gets square lights and a glass tailgate. There are a total of eight exterior colours to choose from and they can be personalized with bi-tone options. The Airscape soft top is available in a choice of three shades and is bi-toned as well contrasting with the body colour. The cargo carrying capacity is 196-litre and with the rear seats folded can be extended to 780-litre.

The interior design is clean, structured and has a bright colour finish on the multimedia panel, air vents and gear lever base. The dashboard is dominated by a 7-inch touch driver interface with Mirror Screen technology giving the user access to his smart phone apps using the vehicle's touch screen.

The new C1 is available with a choice of two petrol engines. e-VTI68 Airdream engine featuring Stop/Start technology and mated to a 5-speed transmission and a VTi 68 engine with clutchless 5-speed gearbox. This gearbox has optimized pedal mapping for enhanced drivability. The top of the line engine is a VTi 82 from Citroen's PureTech engine family.

This 1.2litre, 3-cylinder petrol engine is capable of producing 83PS and torque of 118Nm. 0-100kmph comes up in a claimed 11 seconds. Company claims that the CO2 emissions is just 99g/km and fuel consumption is 27.63kmpl.

The New Citroën C1 features: more design; with dynamic lines and a cheerful front-end gaze, characterised by its headlights, the C1 is an immediate head-turner. Bi-tone versions and brightly coloured interiors underline the playful character and joie de vivre. USEFUL TECHNOLOGIES A TOUCH-SENSITIVE CONNECTED INTERFACE The New Citroën C1 features intuitive, easy-to-use technologies. It is available with a 7'' Touch Drive Interface, grouping together all media functions (radio, telephone, video player, on-board computer). Mirror Screen technology offers advanced connectivity. This function allows the motorist to copy smartphone content onto the 7'' Touch Drive Interface for easy display and control. To do this, a data exchange app must be installed on the smartphone, before being plugged into the car's USB port, compatibility permitting. Once installed, the motorist can take full advantage of the complete range of smartphone apps from the 7''Touch Drive Interface: navigation, telephone, address book, music, web radio and any other useful driving-compatible apps. TECHNOLOGY FOR EASY USE A range of on-board technology makes driving easier such as a reversing camera, which projects images onto the 7" Touch Drive Interface, simplifying manoeuvres, such as parking in tight spaces. The New Citroën C1 also features hands-free entry and drive. This function lets the driver enter and start the car without taking out the electronic key convenient technology typically seen on more premium models. Hill-start assist is also standard. This feature holds the car steady for two seconds for an easy re-start on slopes with a gradient of over 3%. Weighing just 840 kg and fitted with very low rolling resistance tyres and powered by Citroën's efficient latest-generation engines, it ranks well for efficiency, as well as delivering low servicing costs. EFFICIENT ENGINES The New Citroën C1 is available with a choice of two latest-generation petrol engines. With the e-VTi 68 Airdream engine mated to a 5-speed gearbox and featuring Stop&Start technology with a special aerodynamics pack, the New Citroën C1 is on par with the best in class for fuel consumption. The VTi 68 engine is available with the clutchless ETG (Efficient Tronic Gearbox). This 5-speed gearbox features a creep function and optimised pedal mapping, adjusting power effectively for smoother start-ups and enhanced driveability. The New Citroën C1 is also available with the new VTi 82 from the PureTech engine family. Built in France, this 1.2 litre 3-cylinder 82bhp petrol engine uses innovative technologies for fuel consumption of 65mpg and just 99g/km CO2 emissions, combined with driveability and nimble performance torque of 118 Nm and 0-60mph acceleration in 11 seconds.
