Coronavirus impact: MG Motor India to donate Rs. 2 crore towards medical aid
The Coronavirus pandemic is rapidly spreading its effect in the whole world. The count of affected is increasing the country as well, wherein a nation wide lockdown has been announced for 21 days till April 14. With respect to the safety of the employees, major automobile firms and also ancillary manufacturers have decided to shut operations. MG Motor India has now announced a donation of Rs 2 crores for government hospitals and health institutions providing medical assistance in Gurugram and Halol (Vadodara).
In an official release, the company mentions, "In this hour of crisis, we stand with the government of India to fight and overcome the spread of the pandemic of COVID-19. We understand that in this effort, the government of India would need huge resources. As a socially responsible organisation, MG Motor India today announced a donation of Rs. 2 crore for the government hospitals and health institutions providing medical assistance in Gurugram and Halol (Vadodara), to ensure the health and well-being of the medical staff and underprivileged sections of society."
It further adds, "While Rs. 1 crore contribution will come from the company directly, its employees have also pledged to donate another Rs 1 crore. The contribution includes gloves, masks, ventilators, medicines and beds etc. depending on the particular requirement of the specific government hospitals and health institutions providing medical assistance in Gurugram and Halol (Vadodra). Further, MG Motor India is felicitating and advising dealers to ensure enhanced insurance cover for their 5000 employees across the country.
The company has also launched the 'Disinfect and Deliver' program for their entire dealerships and service network. Under this program, new cars will be home delivered to the customers after the entire car has been sanitized and disinfected. On the other hand, Hero Cycles announced that it is setting aside Rs 100 crore as a contingency fund to battle the coronavirus spread and help the community. The fund will help employees, suppliers, customers and communities across the country, the organization reached out to the government in states where it has major facilities like Punjab, Bihar and Uttar Pradesh for help in coping up with the crisis. FCA is equipping one of its manufacturing facilities in China to produce face masks for use in tackling the coronovirus pandemic.
