Datsun India, which recently launched the redi-Go, has now introduced the Go and Go+ Style Editions in India. The Datsun Go and Go+ Style Editions are priced at Rs 4.06 lakh and Rs 4.77 lakh, ex- Delhi. Both the Style Editions are available in the T trim and priced approximately Rs 10,000 more. Both the cars will be available till October 2016 and are on sale now.
For the Rs 10,000 extra, youget a new blue paint scheme, Style logo, body graphics, new roof rails and rear spoiler. Inside the cabin, the buyer can customise the upholstery to dual-tone black and beige. Other features of the Datsun Go and Go+ like a decently spacious cabin, follow-me home headlamps, mobile phone holder, front power windows, AUX-in as well as USB charger are retained.
Both the cars here run a 1,200cc petrol engine that makes 68PS/104Nm and is mated to a 5-speed transmission. Datsun claims a fuel efficiency of 20.6kmpl from the Go and Go+. The Go family will be joined shortly by the Go Cross which will be Datsun's foray into the highly competitive compact SUV segment which is currently dominated by the Maruti Vitara Brezza. The Go Cross is expected to use the same engine as the rest of the Go family but will have a higher state of tune by the time it goes on sale. While there is no diesel engine in the Go portfolio yet, the Go Cross might just be the first one to buck the trend. It could use the 1.5dCi engine from the Micra to appeal to a wider audience.
Datsun India though hasn't yet caught the fancy of the car-buying public as expected. While the company claims to have received over 10,000 bookings for the redi-Go, sources confirm that the response is lukewarm. Buyers in this segment tend to pay more and go for the more expensive Kwid or opt for the run-of-the mill Altos.
