Exclusive Mini Convertible Sidewalk Edition launched at Rs 44.9 lakh
Mini India has launched the Mini Convertible Sidewalk Edition in India, priced at Rs 44.9 lakh, ex-showroom. For the price, you get an exclusive Mini Convertible, in that it's limited to 15 units, and that it's specced with a host of exclusive touches, including its Deep Laguna Metallic paintjob, 17-inch machined face alloy wheels and Sidewalk Edition stickers/badges and trim around the car. It does, however, represent a Rs 5 lakh increase over the starting base price of a Mini Cooper S Convertible, at Rs 38.9 lakh ex-showroom. It is worth noting that the regular Cooper S Convertible quickly swells in price to match when equally specced, with everything from choice of exterior colour, to leather upholstery, powered exterior mirrors, rearview camera and 17-inch wheels being optional extras. The Mini Sidewalk Edition is exclusively available to book online, and is a CBU, same as the regular Convertible.
The Mini Sidewalk Edition does get a fully-loaded features list as standard though, including the Mini Excitement package which includes all LED lighting, ambient lighting, and Mini logo sidewalk illumination when the door is opened. Leather upholstery, and sport leather steering wheel, from the Mini Yours collection is standard, finished in anthracite with contrast stitching, while an illuminated dashboard and Sidewalk Edition badges on the steering wheel announce the special edition Mini. The soft-top roof electronically opens or closes, timed at 20 seconds for the feat, with a geometric pattern unique to this special edition. Equipment includes a rearview camera, Park Distance Control, sport seats, two airbags and more.
Based on the regular Mini Cooper S Convertible, the Sidewalk Edition is powered by the same 2-litre petrol engine, with BMW's TwinPower twin-scroll turbo, making a total of 192PS and 280Nm. The engine is paired with a 7-speed DCT, the Steptronic Sport, and Mini claims a 0-100kmph dash in 7.1 seconds, and a top speed of 230kmph.
