ExxonMobil launches Mobil 1 5W-30 engine oil in India
ExxonMobil Private Limited has launched the fully synthetic Mobil 1 5W-30 engine oil in India, its new flagship product in the country. The price of a 1-litre can is Rs 1,250 across India. The company claims the oil provides unprecedented wear protection, cleaning power and overall performance. It adds that the Mobil 1 5W-30 outperforms Mobil's conventional oils too. The oil is suitable for the conventional cars.
Speaking at the launch, Anirvan Roy, marketing manager, South Asia Pacific, ExxonMobil Lubricants Private Limited, said, "Whether on the racetrack or your daily commute to work, you can trust our engine oils to deliver exceptionally and efficiently. Every engine oil we manufacture is backed up by a long tradition of technological superiority, thus protecting your car against wear, under any driving condition. There is only one Mobil. For world-class technology and protection of vehicles, Mobil synthetic lubricants offer the right solution."
The Mobil1 5W-30 has also better thermal and oxidation stability which ensures consistent performance in between oil change intervals.
The company has also announced contests for mechanics and traders to mark the launch of the motor oil. With every pack of Mobil 1 5W-30, mechanics will receive cash back on exchange of the can caps. On the other hand, traders stand to win big prizes such as LED TVs, Royal Enfield motorcycles and Maruti Suzuki cars. If they meet targeted sales of the Mobil 1 5W-30, they stand a chance to win a Harley-Davidson.
The 5W-30 specification of the oil indicates better lubrication right from engine startup. The W (W stands for winter) in 5W indicates the viscosity/flow of the oil at a low temperatures. The lower the W number, the better the oil's cold temperature/cold start performance. The number 30 is the viscosity rating which indicates the thickness of the oil at high temperatures. The higher the number, the thicker the oil at high temperatures.
Apart from the new Mobil 1 5W-30, ExxonMobil retails the Mobil 1 0W-40, Mobil 1 5W-50 and the Mobil 1 ESP Formula 5W-30 in India.
