Facelifted 2018 Honda Jazz not coming to India this year

Team OD Updated: May 12, 2017, 12:52 PM IST

The Jazz is one of the popular offerings by Honda Cars in India. The Japanese car manufacturer has now listed the facelifted Jazz on its Japanese website. The company states that the sales of the facelifted Honda Jazz will start in the Japanese markets by end of June this year. Before you start making plans to get this one in India, we have learnt that the facelifted Honda Jazz isn't coming to our country this year.

The facelifted Honda Jazz gets a design revision in the form of the new headlights, grille and a redesigned bumper. The new profile on the hatchback is similar to the new-gen Honda Civic as well as the facelifted Honda City that was launched in India earlier this year. Importantly, it gets all-LED headlights similar to that of the new City, something that might be offered only in the top-end variant. The grille features a new thick strip with a piano-black finish. The front bumper gets multiple contours giving the front a larger and a wider appearance. In addition, there are subtle extensions that can be seen flowing in line with the DRLs above the bumper. The side profile, however, remains largely similar to the present model except for the new diamond-cut alloys that have been gaining much popularity. The only update that the rear gets are LED tail lights.

The images of the facelifted Honda Jazz do not reveal much about its interiors. The only bit that is visible is the instrument cluster. The unit looks similar to the one offered in the present model. However, we believe, Honda might make it more premium. The one aspect that we really want Honda to work on is the infotainment system. Most of the current breed of hatchbacks and sedans priced similar to the Jazz come with the CarPlay, Android Auto or MirrorLink connectivity options. We hope Honda introduces a modern infotainment system in the Jazz. The JDM-spec model comes equipped with collision mitigation brake, adaptive cruise control, label recognition function, lane assist and many others. The Honda Jazz sold in India comes with dual airbags and ABS with EBD.

Since this one will be a facelift, the powertrain choices will remain unchanged. The 1.2-litre petrol makes 90PS and 110Nm and comes mated to a 5-speed manual transmission as standard. It can also be optioned with a CVT unit. The diesel model, on the other hand, is powered with a 1.5-litre motor that produces 100PS and 200Nm and comes paired to a 6-speed unit.

The Honda Jazz competes with the likes of the Hyundai Elite i20, Maruti Suzuki Baleno and the Volkswagen Polo in India.
