Hit the roads for a much-needed detox this weekend

The weekend is just around the corner and it is the perfect opportunity to get some time off, especially with a car parked and ready in your garage. The verdant mountains, the golden desert or even an aimless drive, all seem like opportunities to let off some steam and rejuvenate yourself and your family.

Here are some places you could definitely head to if you stay around Delhi.

Shimla - 342km, 7h 38m

Shimla seems like the best option if you want to get away from Delhi's scorching heat. Add to this the colonial vibe, amazing views and great shopping, and you have yourself the perfect weekend. Adding more are the toy train rides, the Chadwick waterfall and the Jakhoo temple. Just make sure you've equipped your vehicle with stable and grippy tyres, like those from Apollo's Apterra range. These will help you negotiate the hilly roads better.

Agra - 233.1km, 3h 49m

If history and culture are more your thing, then Agra is where you need to be. And we don't think we need to say why. The Taj Mahal defines India for what it is. Also, don't forget to visit the other, less well-known spots here like Agra Fort, Itimad-ud-Daulah and Akbar's Mausoleum are equally telling reminders. Agra's possibly the most convenient to get to, given the Yamuna Expressway.

Jaipur - 281.2km, 5h 1m

Rajasthan is full of colour, royalty and vast vistas, and the best place to experience all of this in one place is Jaipur. Head to Jaipur to see the very pretty palaces and museums, the bustling markets, the grandiose forts and sample the still underrated cuisine. Make sure to drop by the City Palace, Amber Fort, Hawa Mahal, Jantar Mantar and Johari Bazaar.

Manali - 537.5 km, 12h 4m

Possibly the most scenic destination here, but be sure to check your tyres before leaving. A set with good grip and control, like the Apollo Apterra tyres, will do great on the twisty roads leading up to the hill station. Once there, soak in the quaint charm of Old Manali, the crisp weather, breathtaking ice-covered peaks and the bustle of Mall Road. The many homestays and adventure sports are other big attractions.

All these places offer some of the best experiences in India, so rest assured that you will be recharged after your outing. Just make sure you are well-equipped for the drive leading up to these places. Apollo Apterra tyres make it a whole lot simpler by giving you better vehicle control, improved grip and more durability. Other than this, all you need to care about is having a great time.
