The rugged-looking 'Extreme Off-roading Vehicle' has been given features that are bound to make it a formidable entry into its niche. The primary draw being the differential locks on both front and rear axles, for getting out of sticky situations on uneven grounds. The Gurkha also comes equipped with a special 'crawler' function to combat steep climbs and drastically undulating landscapes. Force Motors claims that this feature eliminates the need to step on the accelerator on sharp slopes. Fuel economy has been optimised by the deployment of a sensitive Engine Control Unit that is designed to automatically alter fuel supply according to the terrain. More structural changes include a reinforced chassis that should better withstand the high torsional stresses off-roading subjects vehicles to.

A chrome-finish snorkel has been installed to allow the vehicle to wade through upto 550mm of water, without cutting-off air supply to the 2.6-litre turbo charged intercooled engine. The 210mm ground clearance has been given in order to achieve the same.

The Gurkha will be available in two variants - a factory-fitted hardtop with AC and a soft top. With updated front and rear bumpers, alloy wheels  and the much-touted ground clearance, it is expected to appeal to those who are looking for tough vehicles to frequently negotiate extreme, unyielding terrain.

The vehicle comes at Rs 8.25 lakh for the hardtop and Rs 6.25 lakh for the softtop variants (ex-Pune).
