Husqvarna EE 5 all-electric dirt bike launched internationally

Husqvarna EE 5, an all-electric dirt bike has been launched internationally. The EE 5 features a 5 kW electric motor which sources its power from a 0.907 kW lithium-ion battery. The manufacturer claims it produces enough power to rival a 50cc fuel-powered dirt motorcycle.

The motorcycle also has six different riding modes that change the power output hence translating to a longer or a shorter range. The battery offers a two hour of riding time if taken easy, and almost 25 minutes for racers if ridden spiritedly. A quick charger is on offer as well and takes 70 minutes to fully charge the battery.

The power source is housed in a Chromoly frame and the cycle parts include 35 mm WP XACT USD (upside down) forks that offer 205mm of travel in the front. The rear has a fully-adjustable WP mono-shock.

The brakes are hydraulically operated and are dis brake units on both ends. The optional accesories include an aftermarket sprocket, compression adjuster and an aftermarket air valve cover. The wheels are lightweight and the NEKEN handlebar has a tapered design.

The accesories offered by the manufacturer include a helmet, gloves, goggles, pants and shirts with Husqvarna branding.

The Husqvarna Vitpilen 401 has already been seen on test in Pune which could mean the company will debut soon (expected by early 2020). The dirt and motocross riders in India will highly appreciate if the EE 5 officially made it in the country with Husqvarna - as it would be an apt platform for young riders to hop on and enter motocross riding.

And being an all-electric vehicle, we can hope for subsidies as well as incentives from the government and could see a sticker price far less than what fuel-powered motorcycles are priced at, in India.
