Hyundai exports 5000 cars in May
Hyundai has announced that it has exported over 5000 cars in May after restarting production at its plant in Chennai. This falls in line with the 'Make in India' and 'Self-reliant' initiative to revive the economic condition of the country. Hyundai is also the first manufacturer to roll out three million Made-In-India export cars since it started operations in 1999.
According to the data from Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (Siam), the company used to export 14,00014,500 cars on an average per month during the last fiscal year. The company exported 1,81,200 cars with 792 customised variants in the year 2019 and recorded a market share of 26% out of the total exports of passenger cars from India. At present, the company exports 10 models that include Santro (Atos), Grand i10 Nios, Aura, Elite i20, Xcent, Venue and Creta. The company exports these vehicles to 88 countries including Europe, Africa, Latin America and Africa.
S S Kim, MD and CEO at Hyundai Motor India Ltd. said, "We began our export operations in India in 1999 with an objective to propagate 'Make in India Made for the World'. In line with our global strategy, we have now exported more than 3 Million vehicles to 88 countries which reaffirm our commitment to the country."
He added, "We have once again made a humble beginning towards normalcy by exporting more than 5000 units in May 2020. This is a testimony of Hyundai's resilient efforts towards localization and to accentuate economic recovery.
