MV Agusta revealed the new Brutale 800 last year. Now the brand is set to launch the motorcycle in India in the coming months. The Brutale 800 is a compact, naked motorcycle that runs a high-revving inline 3-cylinder engine good for 110PS. The 2017 MV 800 meets Euro IV and makes 110PS of peak power. Torque is up 25 per cent and MV says 80 per cent arrives before 4,000rpm

The intake at the front of the tank cover is a signature element of the MV, and it still takes pride of place on the 2017 edition. Looks smashing too and the intake roar as you wind the throttle on is brilliant

The MV Agusta Brutale 800 is not a spacious motorcycle. It values its compact and sporty nature, and both rider and pillion perches are compact

The right-side switches are new featuring a dedicated hazard and engine map selection switch. The engine kill switch is a rocker-style unit

The new headlight on the Brutale 800 retains the elongated oval design but the daytime running lamps look smart, and it is almost easy to miss the little illuminated MV logo right on the top

The MV Agusta Brutale 800's new digital dash is rectangle and it is densely packed. But the display is easy to decipher. The speed read is the huge numeric on top, flanked on the left by the gear position indicator and the engine map selection on the right. The rev counter spreads out across the whole display, and above it on the left is the multi-information display area while below right is the coolant temperature. The final two figures on the far right bottom are ABS and traction control mode selections. The dash is controlled by an engine map selection switch on the right and MV's unchanged terrible selection cluster on the left switch set

The Brutale's rear wheel is this delicious alloy design that exploits fully the visuals permitted by the single-sided swingarm

MV now does some extremely posh-looking sub-frame designs and the 'gap' in the MV Agusta Brutale 800 is arresting to look at

The rear shock is a Sachs unit that is fully adjustable

43m fully adjustable Marzocchi upside-down forks and a set of Brembos biting on 300mm twin discs are the fully front-end picture of the Brutale 800

The Brutale 800 receives an update to the triple pipes for 2017. The exhaust tips are bigger and more sculpted. Note the Pirelli Diablo Rosso III tyres. They're not outright sporty but are sticky, last a decent while and very good to blast around the countryside with

The MV engine sees a substantial revision and it makes the bike smoother as well as easier to ride. The motor gets a slipper clutch and a quick shifter as standard

The motorcycle is small in size as well as in feel. Riding it is easy once you get used to how weightless it feels - both in terms of how the engine revs and how fast it changes direction

In the corners, the sense of ability and grip on the Brutale 800 is excellent and makes you want to head straight to the racetrack. You're also aware of the stiffness of the ride, and a mid-corner pothole will give you something to think about
