Hyundai India enters the competitive and fast growing compact SUV segment with the launch of the new Hyundai Creta today. It's not a sub 4m vehicle and is certainly a lot larger than other compact SUVs like the EcoSport. This Hyundai competes with the Renault Duster, Nissan Terrano and the new Maruti Suzuki S-Cross. While its price point is bound to sway its fate in this market (Read Hyundai India launches the Creta at Rs 8.59 lakh), it's going to be the driving capabilities and performance of the Creta that'll add to its draw. And when it comes to SUVs in India, butch looks are important too. Do you think the Hyundai Creta scores in this department? Take a look at the images from our first drive and let us know what you think.

Hyundai Creta (6)The Creta features the new nature inspired Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 design that's seen on other current Hyundais

Hyundai CretaThe fact that it's longer than 4 metres is obvious when viewed from the side. It's a proportionate design and the overall stance is quite dynamic. Side/ lower cladding and roof rails are typical of an SUV

Hyundai Creta (3)Top variants of the Hyundai Creta will get headlamps featuring projector and day light running lamps

Hyundai Creta (2)Look at the Hyundai Creta head on and you will be reminded of the Santa Fe – note the similarity in the front hexagonal grille and the sharp well defined headlamps

Hyundai Creta (4)The build quality and design of the cabin are impressive. A few parts have been lifted from the i20. The wheel design is similar to the older generation Hyundai

Hyundai Creta (1)The split rear lamps look striking. LED lamps aren't offered but the LED-effect (seen in the i20) is present. The number plate is housed between the upper tailgate section and the bumper, leaving the tailgate uncluttered
