Renault has just unveiled its CMF-A platform based car, the Kwid. The car was presented by Carlos Goshn, chairman and group CEO, Renault-Nissan Alliance in Chennai today. The name could sound familiar because it debuted on a concept at the 2014 Auto Expo. The Kwid is to be pricedfromRs 3 to4 lakh when it goes on salebetweenSeptember and November this year. For full details on the car,see our exhaustive live coverage from the reveal event. The Kwid is a sub-4m entry-level hatchback that uses its SUV styling and clever engineering to promise exceptional interior space and fuel economy at an unprecedented price.

Renault KWID Front 3/4 actionThe Kwid was designed in India and France and takes on many SUV-style cues from the stance to the side-cladding and wheel arches. The rectangular headlamps and the squared off muscular silhouette both are strong SUV reminders

Renault KWID InteriorsThe Kwid, Renault says, will have the segment's best interior volume as well as the largest boot

Renault KWID MediaNav systemThe Kwid uses a 7-inch touchscreen that elevates the premium character and includes features that few cars in its segment will have

Renault KWID aircon controlsThe Kwid offers simple aircon controls, including a thermostat, five-speed blower plus vent/recirculate and blower direction controls

Renault KWID gearshift leverWe love the simple looking hexagonal knob on the stubby shift lever. The cubbies look useful but could be too shallow to actually hold a cup of coffee. Note power window switches on the console - we don't like that quite as much though

Renault Kwid DashboardThe simple digital layout includes a very large speedometer readout with a prominent fuel gauge on the right. See that shiny line on the bottom? That's an LCD readout

Renault Kwid InteriorThe Kwid uses dark colours to give a built-to-cost cabin a sense of premiumness. The instrument cluster and the infotainment screen bolster that impression

Renault Kwid DesignNirmit Soni and Mishu Batra, in the pic, were among many Indian designers who were integral to the development of the new car which took place in India and France
