India-bound Audi Q2 goes on sale in the UK
The India-bound Audi Q2 is now available for sale in the UK. In an official release, Audi has stated that Q2 deliveries are scheduled to begin from November. In the UK, the Q2 is being offered with a choice of three engines in three trims. The carmaker is also offering a special Edition #1 trim on the 1.4 TFSI and the 2.0 TDI engines. In the UK, Audi Q2 prices start at £ 22,380 for the 1.4 TFSI SE MT version which is around Rs 18.30 lakh.
The Audi Q2 was first showcased at the Geneva Auto Show 2016. It is a compact SUV based on the A3 and is 4.1-metres long. It is the smallest vehicle in the Q range but gets similar styling as its bigger siblings. Audi is expected to launch the Q2 in India and we have already driven it around Zurich. The new Q2 is the first Audi car to be developed under design director Marc Lichte. Audi says that the Q2 has been designed to appeal to a younger audience.
In the UK, the Audi Q2 is being offered with a choice of two petrol engines. There's a 1.0-litre 3-cylinder TFSI engine which makes 116PS of power and a bigger 1.4 TFSI engine which delivers 150PS. The 1.0-litre TFSI engine is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission while the 1.4-litre TFSI motor offers buyers the choice of a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed S tronic gearbox.
Buyers can also opt for a 1.6-litre TDI engine which generates 116PS or a larger 2.0 TDI motor which produces 150PS. The 1.6-litre TDI engine is offered with the option of a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed S tronic gearbox. In comparison, the 2.0 TDI motor is coupled to the 7-speed S tronic gearbox. The Q2 2.0 TDI is also being offered with Audi's four-wheel drive system Quattro.
The Audi Q2 Edition #1 gets a quantum grey paint, LED lights, Audi's virtual cockpit and a Bang & Olufsen sound system. It also comes equipped with adaptive cruise control with stop & go, Audi active lane assist, cross-traffic assist rear and emergency assist.
The Audi Q2 is expected to be launched in India sometime in 2017. In India, the Q2 range is expected to start at Rs 25 lakh.
