The second generation of the Mercedes-AMG G 63 is being launched in India today. This is the first full generation change for the iconic SUV since it debuted in 1979. Like its predecessors, extensive changes have been made to this SUV to make it fit to carry the G 63 moniker. Aside from the relatively untouched looks of the new G-Class, the G 63 comes with AMG-specific trim both inside and out.
This new version, with its more refined, practical and up-to-date underpinnings, looks to keep all those attributes intact in a package that is more accessible, efficient but equally imposing.
Larger, ventilated and perforated brake discs and a new AMG-specific exhaust system with variable flaps are other additions.
The all-wheel drive, three differential locks, a ladder-type frame plus engageable low-range gearbox remain untouched from the standard car.
This motor is mated to a nine-speed dual-clutch transmission retuned for quicker responses. The AMG Ride Control drive mode system has been reworked with new componentry to suit this car’s more dynamic set up with additional modes to aid off-roading.
The #MercedesAMGG63 comes with AMG-specific trim like a new front apron and Panamerica radiator trim, new side skirts, 20-inch wheels and beefed up wheel arches. Brakes with red callipers and chromed side-mounted exhaust pipes complete the look.
