The four innovations are the the automatic ignition cut-off, the distance to empty fuel system, fuel gauge system  and the engine immobiliser system. The automatic ignition cut-off system saves fuel by stopping the engine when the vehicle is at idle. The engine can be restarted by simply twisting the throttle. This system though is yet to be introduced. The distance to empty system and the the fuel gauge system help the rider estimate the distance the vehicle will cover after it hits reserve. The engine immobiliser provides an effective anti-theft solution.

The Mahindra Centuro was launched in July earlier this year, and contains the now patented fuel gauge system, distance to empty system and engine immobiliser system. The motorcycle also features Mahindra's in-house intelligentMCi-5 (Micro Chip ignited-5 curve) engine that delivers a power output of 8.5PS at 7500rpm, 8.5Nm of peak torque at 5500 rpm. Other innovative features on the Centuro include an encrypted remote flip key, find me lamps and guide lamps.

"With our in-house technologies getting international patents, we are reaffirming our commitment to offer best-in-class technology and innovative products to meet customers unmet needs. The incorporation of these technologies into our range of two-wheelers differentiate us from our competitors and is creating significant consumer demand," said Viren Popli, Executive Vice President – Mahindra Two Wheelers.

According to Mr. P. S. Ashok - senior vice president and head R&D, "At our state-of-the-art R&D facility in Pune, we continue to focus on technology driven innovation for our two-wheelers. The internationally patented technologies, developed in-house, are a testimony to this effort. We will continue to develop innovative technologies that appeal to the global two wheeler community at large."
