Mahindra XUV700 to get new AX7 Smart variant to cut delivery times

Mahindra is expected to launch another top-rung model for the Mahindra XUV700. This variant termed the AX7 Smart will be positioned below the AX7 Luxury and will lose many of the ADAS functions of the top model. This seems to be line with a global trend seen from carmakers to manage the semi-conductor crises where heavily chip-dependent features are cut to reduce delivery periods for customers.

Mahindra XUV700 AX7 Smart features

Despite losing the ADAS functions, the XUV700 AX7 Smart will still be quite feature loaded. Expected to be seen here is the 10.25-inch touchscreen with wireless Android Auto/Apple Carplay, 12-speaker Sony sound system, Alexa integration, connected-car features, 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, dual-zone climate control, auto headlamps with auto high-beam, auto wipers, cruise control, blind-spot monitoring and 360-degree cameras.

The XUV700 AX7 Smart will also remain unchanged visually from the AX7 Luxury with LED headlamps and taillamps, manual flush door handles, sequential indicators and 18-inch alloy wheels. Safety features will include ABS with EBD and 6 airbags.

Aside from the ADAS functions, other features missing will be ESP, knee airbags, hill hold function, hill-descent control, powered door handles with keyless entry, drive modes, electronic parking brakes, wireless charging, steering reach adjustment and driver fatigue detection.

Mahindra XUV700 AX7 Smart engines, specifications

The same 2.2-litre mHawk turbo diesel and the 2.0-litre mStallion turbo-petrol will be offered on the Mahindra XUV700 AX7 Smart. The diesel puts out 185PS and makes 420 Nm with the 6-speed manual and 450 Nm with the 6-speed automatic. The petrol motor makes 200PS and 380 Nm paired with both gearboxes. There is also an AWD option available.

Mahindra XUV700 AX7 Smart expected prices, launch date

The XUV700 AX7 Smart should come at a sizeable discount from the AX7 Luxury of around Rs 80,000 to 90,000. The AX7 Luxury is priced between Rs 20.29 lakh The AX7 Smart should be launched in the next few days and should reduce delivery periods sizeably.
