ATV maker Polaris has officially announced its entry into the 15th Raid de Himalaya. The rally kick-starts on October 4 and will conclude on October 12, 2013.

This is the second time Polaris is participating in this rally. The company's ace rider Raj Singh Rathore will be manning the recently launched RZR XP 900 model. He had clinched the title last year in Moto Quad Category of in Raid de Himalaya.

The RZR XP 900 boasts of Polaris' indigenous Optimized Mass Design. The engine and other components are strategically placed to create the absolute lowest centre of gravity, ensuring better performance even on the roughest of terrains. Polaris has previously participated in and won the Desert Storm and Dakshin Dare rallies.

Specifically built for an extreme performance, RZR XP 900 has sharp throttle response, high power and quick acceleration. The ATV is designed to be light-weight, deliver more power to the ground and ensures less driveline noise. The 3-Link Trailing Arm IRS to handle all that power, paired with Dual-A-Arm front suspension with 13.5inch of travel, further reduce tension caused by the terrain.

"Raid de Himalaya is an exhilarating, adrenaline charging and an extreme endurance event for the participants and the vehicles alike. We are excited to be a part of this adventurous journey once again and we are confident of proving the endurance and power of our RZR XP 900 with Raj Singh Rathore," said Pankaj Dubey, MD, Polaris India.

The rally will be flagged off from Shimla and traverse through Kaza, Keylong, Debring and will end at Leh. The first two days of the rally will be for the administrative and technical scrutiny of the vehicles to ensure adherence to safety norms.
