Maruti teases the Ciaz ahead of its September launch
Maruti Suzuki has released a teaser ahead of the much awaited Ciaz's launch. Except that this teaser doesn't show anything about the car but just a campaign which has a cool cat starring in it. Maruti wants to project the Ciaz as a cool car, which is longer, wider and roomier than anything in its class.
The Maruti started life as the Alivio concept and has matured into what can be called as a bold design language. Contrary to reports, the Ciaz will not be an SX4 replacement and instead will be positioned above it. We believe it will straddle the untapped segment between the Honda and Corolla.
A pair of petrol and diesel engines will do duty under the hood of the Maruti Ciaz. The petrol motor will be the 1.4-litre unit from the Ertiga which will make 90PS of power while the diesel will be the familiar 1.3 Multijet from Fiat, which again will produce 90PS. These engines will come mated to manual transmissions as standard and as per spy pictures floating on the net, there will also be an auto tranny. Maruti may also use an AMT, something which they already have on the Celerio, for the Ciaz.
Production of the Maruti Ciaz has already started in the company's Manesar plant. The Ciaz will be launched in India this September with deliveries closer starting from October.
