MG Motor India invests Rs 150 crore on new corporate office, brand store and flagship showroom

MG Motor India has made an investment of Rs 150 crore and has inaugurated its new corporate headquarters in Gurugram. This Indian headquarter of the British automobile brand will also house the company's flagship showroom along with a brand store on the ground floor showcasing its entire range of products, brand's heritage and also MG memorabilia and accessories. MG's new office is spread over 46,000 square feet and will be operational in the next two months before the official launch of the Hector SUV in the country. It will be located at Milestone Experion Centre, Sector-15, Gurugram.

"India is going to be a key market for the MG brand and the new HQ reflects our long-term commitment to be an integral part of the thriving Indian auto market, in addition to our Halol manufacturing facility, which was inaugurated in September 2017. With a strong foundation and best talent from the industry in our team, we are ready to go full throttle for the Hector SUV, our first launch in Q2 2019." commented, Rajeev Chaba, president and managing director, MG Motor India.

MG mentions that their new corporate office has been designed with the Queen's necklace British design theme with the the look and feel of the office to be reminiscent of a classic British Street. Further, the office also gas a getaway area where the employees can de-stress by playing games like  PlayStation, Foosball etc.  The office is supposed to have an work friendly atmosphere with more open space and less boundaries between different departments.  The new headquarter will house functions such as  after sales, sales, marketing, product planning, dealer development, finance and corporate affairs. MG Motors will be openings its first company-owned showroom in Mumbai followed by other key metro locations in the country.

It is already known that MG Motor India, the completely owned subsidiary of SAIC Motor Corp, will be beginning its operations in the country in 2019. And the first offering that will roll out from the Halol plant will be the MG Hector. The SUV will be sized larger than a Hyundai Tucson, and will possibly offer seven seats as well. The MG Hector SUV will be based on the China-spec Baojun 530. However, it has been confirmed, that the MG Motor version will be heavily re-engineered to make sure it withstands Indian driving conditions. The platform is expected to remain largely similar to the Baojun 530.  The launch of the Hector has been confirmed to take place in Mid 2019, which could be in June 2019. MG will have 100 sales and service touchpoints in place by May 2019.
