MotoGP 2017: Zarco claims pole at wet Motegi
A wet qualifying session at Twin Ring Motegi saw Johann Zarco claim pole position for the 2017 Japanese MotoGP. Lining up alongside the MotoGP rookie are Danilo Petrucci and Marc Marquez.
Pole position for Johann Zarco at MotoGP Japan
The second row of the grid sees Aleix Espargaro line up in fourth place, with Jorge Lorenzo in fifth, and Dani Pedrosa sixth. Bradley Smith, Pol Espargaro and Andrea Dovizioso line up on the third row of the grid.
The fourth row sees the Suzukis of Aleix Rins and Andrea Iannone, with Valentino Rossi lining up 12th on the grid. It was a tricky weekend of Rossi, who suffered a fall for the first time since his leg-breaking injury earlier this year. Rossi's team-mate Maverick Vinales could only manage to qualify 14th.
