Hyundai India has opened bookings for the second-generation Hyundai Creta, ahead of the SUV's launch in India on March 17. Prospective owners can pay a booking amount of Rs 25,000 for the new Creta at Hyundai dealerships or on the brand's website.

The new India-spec Hyundai Creta had been unveiled in February at the Auto Expo 2020. The new Creta follows Hyundai's latest design language and takes design cues from cars like the Venue and the Palisade flagship. The interiors of the Creta have also been fully revealed. The Indian-spec car gets a design unlike that of the car in other markets, dominated by a large screen in the instrument cluster and 10.24-inch infotainment as seen on the Seltos. The dash itself is a fairly straightforward design finished in dual-tone beige/black but gets unique elements like the slim air-vents with chrome inserts, the latest four-spoke Hyundai steering wheel and the wide central tunnel with the Audi-esque gear selector. Noticeable in the pictures is a dial for terrain modes and a PM2.5 air-purifier.

Other feature highlights include the voice-operated panoramic sunroof, a more advance set of Blue Link connected car features that include remote start for the manual version as well, paddle shifters, a two-step reclining rear-seat, a fully-digital instrument cluster and an eight-speaker Bose sound system.

The Creta is closely related to the current segment-leader, the Kia Seltos. Consequently, the two SUVs will share the same set of engines and gearboxes. These are a 1.5-litre petrol with 115PS/144Nm, a 1.5-litre diesel motor with 115PS/250Nm and a 1.4-litre turbo-petrol with 140PS and 242Nm. There will be three automatic options, aside from a 6-speed manual. There will be a CVT, a 6-speed auto and a 7-speed DCT. The CVT is paired to the N/A petrol, the diesel is available with the torque converter while the turbo-petrol can be had with the DCT. All engines are BSVI compliant.

Prices of the new Creta should range from under Rs 10 lakhs to Rs 18 lakhs, ex-showroom.
