Nissan has unveiled the all-new Livina MPV in Indonesia. This popular offering for Nissan has been in production since 2006 and has been on sale in Middle East, South Arica, China, Brazil and other SouthEast Asian countries. While the first generation model was based on the same platform as the Nissan Note, the new-gen model is based on the much bigger Mitsubishi Xpander MPV. And it is not just the underpinnings as Nissan has nearly carried the same design and cabin layout as seen on the Xpander MPV, thanks to the  companies' alliance. The 2019 Nissan Livina MPV will lock horns with the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, Toyota Avanza and the Honda BR-V in the Indonesian market.

2019 Nissan Livina is based on the Mitsubishi Xpander MPV

From the looks of it, Nissan has made extremely subtle changes to the Livina MPV as most of the body work and sheet metal has been carried over from the Mitsubishi Xpander. Much like the difference between Renault Scala and Nissan Sunny sedans sold in India. The highlight of the Livina's design includes the imposing grille instead of the much aggressive dynamic shield face on the Mitsubishi. The 2019 Nissan Livina sports sleek LED DRLs on the top while the main unit is positioned below as has been the trend on new-age offerings like the Tata Harrier and the also upcoming Kia SPi2 SUV. Tons of chrome seen on the Mitsubishi's X grille has been replaced by a solid chrome line flowing on the grille. Also, the new front design follows Nissan's V-motion front. Even on the side, the MPV gets new 16-inch dual tone alloys and the wheel arches has been tweaked and the D-pillar gets a masking to give a floating roof design. There are subtle changes on the rear in the form of a new tail gate and bumper design. The ground clearance of the Nissan Livina MPV has been kept at 205mm.

The cabin layout and the features list is similar to that in the Mitsubishi

The equipment features in the new Nissan Livina MPV consists of a a seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system that is compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, reverse camera, push start, tile and telescopic steering, 12V power sockets for all three rows. In terms of powertrain, the 2019 Nissan Livina makes use of the same 1.5-litre diesel engine that produces 104PS of power and generates 141Nm of torque at 4,000rpm. This engine if offered with a five-speed manual transmission. The 2019 Nissan Livina will be offered in five variants and four trims in Indonesia. The safety features include dual airbags, ABS/EBD, Brake Assist and Vehicle Dynamics Control (VDC). Should Nissan also bring the Livina MPV to India? Let us know in the comments section below.
