Nissan opens pre-booking for new GT-R in India

Nissan has open bookings for its iconic sportscar, the GT-R, in India. The Japanese automobile manufacturer has already begun the teaser campaign as the model is featured on the company's official website. Nissan stated that interested customers can pay a deposit of Rs 25 lakh and book their GT-R. The new Nissan GT-R was first shown at the New York Motor show. Nissan claimed that the 2017 GT-R received the most significant update since its launch in 2007.

Aesthetically, the new Nissan GT-R does look similar to the previous model, but it gets certain styling revisions. The front profile has been tweaked for the GT-R look more aggressive than before. The V-shaped grille gets a chrome finish and is larger than the previous offering. The mesh pattern has been updated too for better engine cooling. The side sills have been repositioned to improve air flow and make the GT-R more aerodynamic than before; the same is seen with the revised lines on the hood. The overall silhouette remains similar and so are the iconic four-ring tail lights. However, there are minor changes done to the rear profile.

Inside, the cabin has been updated with plusher and premium materials. The Nissan GT-R carries an understated design without the flowing contours of some of its rivals, but it does not look dated. On the contrary, the detailing done makes the cabin look unique. The cabin gets shades of light brown and ebony black.

Nissan has also worked on the dashboard layout and reduced the number of buttons from 27 to 11 in the latest model. The cabin-fibre central console sports a large eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system. It does miss on the currently trending Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. However, it uses an interface designed by Polyphony Digital, the studio known for the development of the Gran Tourismo video game. The multi-function display offers information on the G-forces, acceleration opening, brake pedal pressure and steering angle.

More than design and features, the Nissan GT-R is all about performance, and the new GT-R tends to do justice to its iconic status. The 3.8-litre V6 24-valve twin-turbocharged puts out an impressive 570PS of power at 6,800rpm and generates 637Nm of torque. Power is sent to all four wheels with a 6-speed dual-clutch transmission. Nissan claims that the GT-R can sprint from 0 to 100kmph in less than three seconds and can reach a maximum speed of 315kmph.
