November issue is out on stands

Team OD Updated: May 09, 2013, 04:16 PM IST

Diwali, the festival of lights and crackers is around the corner and in keeping with the festive spirit we have a cracking issue for you this November. The much awaited Eon and the much talked about XUV500 take centre stage. We've extensively tested the two to come up with a detailed review. We've even pitted the XUV against some of its competitors to find out if the cheetah-inspired SUV is able to scare them off. If two wheelers are your poison then we have the motorcycle which made the whole country drool when it was launched and now it's here in an updated version. The Yamaha R15 Version 2.0, yes with fatter rear tyres, has been launched and Bert takes it around the corners of the MMRT in Chennai to find out what else has changed. Hero Moto Corp's first offering after breaking away Honda, the Impulse, is here and it's a bike which is at ease off the tarmac too. Interesting isn't it? Royal Enfield too has made a new entry into the scene with the Classic 500 Desert Storm â€" very Lawrence of Arabia if you ask us. It seems Hyosung' GT650R has lost some weight and makes its entry in an all new naked avatar, christened the GT650N. While all this was going on, Abhay snuck away to Italy and rode the all new Ducati Streetfighter 848.

Fuel efficiency has sudden taken on a whole new meaning with the steep hike in fuel prices. And so we took India's fuel efficient car â€" the Indigo eCS â€" for a mileage run to find out what figures it actually returns. The Sunny side up, Nissan Sunny had generated quite a bit of interest when it was launched, especially when the prices were launched. We've given it a thorough shakedown and compared it to its competition â€" the Etios and the Verna 1.4.

Also making an appearance this month will be three premium soft roaders from BMW, Volvo and Land Rover. We were all excited about the new Jetta last month. So now we've gone ahead and pitted it against the Laura, Corolla Altis and Fluence. Bert too has just gotten back from Italy where he drove the Maserati Gran Cabrio. Now that's a big festive list. But wait there's more.

Did you hear about the inaugural Indian Grand Prix taking place this month? Well, we have an 86-page supplement that tells you all you wanted to know about the Indian GP, about the Buddh International Circuit, interviews with Karun Chandhok, Narain Karthikeyan, Lewis Hamilton, Christian Horner and a lot more. And there's still more. We have the usual dose of exciting motorsports and automotive news. Pick up your copy right away. And if you like the issue, which we are sure you will, don't forget to let us know on our Facebook page or on Twitter (@odmag).

Happy Diwali!
