OVERDRIVE September 2016 anniversary issue out on stands now

It's our 18th birthday, and we've had a blast putting together this issue for you readers. Halley has been with us for almost eight years and never driven a Ferrari on public roads, so we sent him out to drive the new California T, and that too in Mumbai. Since he is so into all things powerful, we sent him to Delhi to test some American muscle aka the Ford Mustang. It's the Neigh slayer is what he says.

It's no secret that we are in a happy state behind the wheel. So Rishabh thought of gathering three cars - the Abarth 595 Competizione, Mini Cooper S and the Volkswagen Beetle  - and have some fun. Needles to say, nearly the entire office joined him.

While it may appear all fun and games, we had an important car to discover  - the new Audi A4. The entry-level luxury car segment is witnessing a lot of action, and Rahul went to Odisha to see if the A4 has it to take on the segment best.

Every year, we celebrate our nation's Independence with the Indian Army and a bunch of OD readers, and this year's IQD was at a new high, literally. We hoisted the national flag at the Siachen base camp, regarded as one of the highest and toughest battlefields on the planet. Driving a car is something that we, at OVERDRIVE, enjoy thoroughly. However, stress induced by driving is a serious concern, and we did some research to find out what exactly happens to us while driving. We also gave some tips to reduce stress while driving.

Now, if you thought that we'd only conquer one of the highest motorable roads in the world, Khardung La in the safe confines of a car, you're wrong. Shumi and Rishaad along with 11 women bikers went to the treacherous mountain pass via Leh. Not on a motorcycle but on the humble TVS Scooty Zest 110! The TVS Himalayan Highs Season 2 was a challenge beyond compare, and the ladies were on quite a high after completing the challenge.

While Shumi was away, Ashok thought of taking his favourite bikes, the Aprilia Tuono V4 1100 Factory, the Suzuki GSX-1000R and the Triumph Speed Triple to the hills. It's his idea of throwing a birthday party, and Halley and Rishabh played along.

But wait, what about our other motorcycle man, Rishaad? Since he had to accompany Shumi to the Himalayas, he decided to have a superbike kind of party. And with no ordinary one's at that. He took his favourite litre-class monster, the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R, and pitted it against an Italian supermodel, the MV Agusta F4 R.

While we were busy testing and compiling these stories, we also made it a point to celebrate the legends that have shaped Motorsport. MotoGP would, for instance, not be the thing that it today, if not for the likes of John Surtees, Mike Hailwood, , Giacomo Agostini, Kenny Roberts and Wayne Rainey. And then there's Valentino Rossi, arguably, the most recognised and revered personalities in MotoGP. And we didn't stop there. The World Rally Championship (WRC) has, over the years,  has given us some of the greatest drivers to have walked this earth. Drivers with skill and wheelmanship that helped them hustle cars in ways that were never expected or even imagined. Drivers like Hannu Mikkola, Walter Rohrl, Tommi Makkinnen and Sebastian Loeb have not only won championships but also set records that hace clearly set them a class apart. The story will enlighten you about the various aspects that make these drivers the greatest ever.
