Porsche has unveiled the Cayenne facelift at the ongoing Paris Auto Show 2014. The Cayenne variants have become more efficient.
The Cayenne variant with the 3.0-litre V6 diesel now is claimed to achieve between 14.7 to 15.15kmpl. It produces 262PS of power and 580Nm of torque. It accelerates from zero to 100kmph in 7.3s (7.2s with the optional Sport Chrono package which adds the launch control to the mix), and achieves a top speed of 221kmph. The Cayenne S diesel's 4.2-litre V8 puts out 385PS and 850Nm, which helps it get from naught to 100kmph in 5.4s all the up to a top speed of 252kmph. It claims a fuel economy of 12.5kmpl.
The Cayenne S now borrows the 3.6-litre biturbo V6 petrol engine from the Macan turbo that was launched recently in India on July 23, 2014. The engine is tuned to produce 414PS and 550Nm and makes the Cayenne S quicker, faster, cleaner and more fuel-efficient than the outgoing naturally-aspirated 4.8-litre V8. Compared to the V8's 5.9s 0-100kmph sprint and 258kmph top speed, the new V6 engine pushes the Cayenne S from naught to 100kmph in 5.5s with a top whack of 259kmph. The launch control package manages in the sprint in 5.4s.
The Cayenne turbo uses a 4.8-litre biturbo V8, which puts out 520PS and 750Nm. 0-100kmph comes up in 5.4s (5.3s with launch control) and top whack is claimed at 279kmph.
The Cayenne S E-Hybrid is said to achieve an all-electric driving range between 18-36km, depending on the terrain it's driven on
Porsche has also showvcased the Cayenne S E-Hybrid at the Paris Motor Show, which replaces the current hybrid variant with a new lithium-ion traction battery that has an energy capacity of 10.8kWh. It is mated to a new electric motor that produces 95PS of power and a 3.0-litre V6 petrol that develops 333PS. The combined output of this setup is 416PS and 590Nm, which is good for a 0-100kmph sprint of 5.9s and a top speed of 243kmph. The Cayenne S E-Hybrid is said to achieve an all-electric driving range between 18-36km, depending on the terrain it's driven on and a combined fuel efficiency of 29.41kmpl.
The steering wheel comes from the 918 Spyder and gets paddle shifters as standard fitment
The facelift brings with it redesigned headlights and taillights with new detailing, ORVM integrated turn blinkers, new bumpers and a mildly revised grille and bonnet. All these bits add to the 2015 Cayenne's sharper look as compared to the current car. The interiors have been given some nips and tucks too. The steering wheel comes from the 918 Spyder and gets paddle shifters as standard fitment. The rear seats get optional ventilation.
The 2015 Porsche Cayenne facelift will go on sale in Europe and the US in October and November 2014 respectively. We expect it to reach India by late 2014 or early 2015.
