The MV850s that the German army will get are re-specced MV860s. The MV860 is an ultralight all-terrain tactical vehicle initially developed by Polaris for the US military. "Defense forces around the world are seeking Polaris Defense Military vehicles to  take advantage of our ability to make modifications to our commercial off-the-shelf technology (COTS), insert customer requirements and quickly deliver an end product that meets their needs. It is our goal to match the warfighter's mission requirements with our best value product," said Rich Haddad, GM, Polaris Defense.

The Polaris MV850 claims to be a highly adaptable ATV with a sturdy metal racking system. It can heave up to 270kgs of gear or manpower through extreme situations and off-road terrain. The MV850 get its power from a 4-stroke twin-cylinder liquid-cooled engine. Other technical features include on-demand AWD, engine braking and active descent control. It has a maximum fuel capacity of 44.5 liters and comes with blackout lighting with IR light capability. There is also an optional litter mount.

Closer home too, Polaris' Indian arm has been making news. They have been contracted to provide ATVs to the Gujarat Police, who need them to man the coasts. Polaris India recently celebrated their second anniversary in the country by launching their RZR XP 900.
